Holiday of a Lifetime is in the bookshops

It's fabulous to have Holiday of a Lifetime out in the bookshops for readers to enjoy, after having the story so long in my head. It's been exciting to hold the real book in my hands. I love the cover, and the way the aeroplane flies across the sky in each chapter heading. Very cute. The team at Omnibus did a great job. To top it off, I've had really positive comments from readers - I'm so glad they can see the funny side of Anna!

I was tidying up the other day and found a postcard I bought in Finland of Moomins sliding off the snowy roof of their house, just like Anna does. If you haven't come across the Moomin books before, look them up. They are lots of fun, even if you are really a bit too old for them!

Omnibus On ya Bus blog

Check out the Omnibus Books blog - On Ya bus! On 5th April, 2013, there's a great Q & A with Kat Chadwick, the illustrator and designer who did the cover for Holiday of a Lifetime. Apart from some insights into her life, there are some examples of her gorgeous illustrations. Personally, I just love the sheep knitting granny squares.

I was fascinated to read that she loves the work of Richard Scarry. As a child I doted on his books and spent many hours with 'What do People do all Day' and 'Busy, Busy World'. When we travel, I sometimes have Richard Scarry moments, seeing characters like Sneef the Detective just out of the corner of my eye. Just thinking about those books makes me want to sit down and read them again!

New Website

My old website is so old that I had to write it in html... which was quite a challenge for a non-tech-head person. It's well and truly time to get things updated, and some of the ideas I've had bubbling along in my head about how things should look are now much more possible. Hope you like the new look!
