Sally Rippin did the illustrations as if they were the scrap book for a school project. My favourite page is the one with fireworks... and the one where Grandpa gets posted to school.

Me Oliver Bright is about a child getting a sense of their own identity, and about family history, and about different geographical places in Australia - the city by the beach, the country town, and the outback farm. It's also about places where my family have lived. Most of the things about Grandpa in this story are part of my father's childhood, even getting 'posted' to school on the mail truck.
